I am an artist, naturalist and educator, and bring a wealth of experience to my work. I have a Master's degree in Biology & spent ten years as a biologist and science educator, which strengthened my ability to understand the concepts I intepret for my clients, and present them in ways people can understand.
I subsequently earned a degree in Science Communication from the well known & respected program at the University of California, and have since worked with a wide variety of clients throughout the nation.
I’ve held a variety of fantastic jobs that have included such exciting adventures as being chased by a moose in Idaho, tracking bears by moonlight, backpacking in the Sierra high country, mucking about in carnivorous plant bogs, catching pollinators in Colorado’s high alpine meadows and netting sharks in the San Francisco Bay. I love children and turning them on to the wonders and frailty of nature, and often work with school groups and outdoor education programs.
Between jobs, I enjoy traveling to exotic locales like Turkey, Israel, the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii, and destinations throughout mountains and deserts of the Western U.S. I love to backpack, snowboard, scuba dive, cruise on my Harley Davidson, and hike with my golden retrievers. I believe community involvement is an important aspect of my work and life, so I volunteer with various environmental and educational organizations including the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators and Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue.

Christine Elder Illustration & Design provides services in graphic design, website design, illustration, copy writing and editing, with a focus on clients in the fields of natural science, biology, conservation, the environment, education, non-profit organizations and state & federal government agencies for projects including interpretive exhibits, museum displays, field guides, trail signage & wayfinding, educational curricula development, visitor information, instructional manuals, business collateral, advertising and marketing materials. We are a woman-owned small business and a registered federal government contractor working out of Grass Valley in Nevada County, California.
